For much of the third century AD, the Roman Empire was in serious crisis. Near the end of the century, the emperor Diocletian focused his efforts on restoring order within the Empire, securing the borders and famously establishing the Tetrarchy. These successes would not have been possible without legions of soldiers who fought many battles in service to Rome.
