Welcome to Medieval Warfare magazine
This is my first editor’s blog for Medieval Warfare, the first of many. With this blog, I will keep you up to date on any developments within the magazine, the website, and all kinds of other things related to Medieval warfare in Europe and the Middle East.
If you’ve read the newsletters, you are aware that the first issue of Medieval Warfare magazine is well under way. At the end of November, we made the final decisions on the editorial plan. Besides that, we also chose the themes for the next two issues. You can read about it on the site.
We’ve come a long way since the moment we started on the Medieval Warfare project. We spend the first year preparing, building our network, and contacting authors and useful institutions. Last June, we started preparations for the actual publishing of the magazine. The first step towards this was to decide on the theme of the first issue. Then, we started building a website, the launch version of this went live last October. Since that moment, things started to move fast. We now have a growing network of potential authors and contributors, a big number of subscribers to the newsletter (at the moment we have 636 subscribers, and this number is growing by the day) and a selection of authors, mapmakers and illustrators who are working on realizing the first issue of Medieval Warfare.
All this will lead to the coming of Medieval Warfare I-1 in the spring of 2011. The following months will be a very exciting time, so make sure you don’t miss any of it.
In the next couple of months, I will post a number of blogs. The next ones will focus on our trip through Northern Europe, where we spend some time taking pictures of useful objects, castles and site.
I’ll keep you posted.
