Issue 120 - The defeat that saved an army
In WSS 120, we look at the invasion of France and Belgium in May 1940. After the first week of staggering advances, the German high command became worried about the flanks of the Panzer Divisions advancing through northern France. Should the Allies manage to coordinate a counterattack, they might be in real trouble. The Allies did organise an offensive, albeit badly timed and planned. The result was less than stellar, but it did shock the Germans into a crucial pause.
