Fun at Poldercon 2018
Poldercon is a wargames convention run annually in Utrecht in the Netherlands. I came over to cover the show for Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy, and to help run some games. My boss Jasper had the idea of us running two games each on the same table with the same layout. He planned to run Chain of Command while I decided to run my Osprey Black Ops and adapt it to World War 2.
Jasper has some excellent terrain by Total Battle Miniatures which he has painted up to a very high standard. Once set up, the board looked beautiful. We took it in turns to run our games, which gave me the opportunity to report on the show.
Poldercon uses a US-style registration system for games and with forty-four different games being run, there was plenty to choose from. As part of the ticket, food was provided at lunchtime (and very good food it was too!).
I took plenty of pictures at the show, but due to time constraints, I think I only managed to get photos of a quarter of the total games being played. I´ve only picked out a few photos of the day for this blog. More can be found by scrolling through the Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy Facebook.
While we were there, we met up with Sander from the Analogue Painting Challenge. He asked for a photo so we were happy to oblige.
All in all, Poldercon was an excellent day. I´ll be sure to return to run another set of games in 2019.
